Where does the forum store the "avatar" image? I can't seem to change mine

If I go into my account, click Edit Profile, I can change my picture (which I have done) - I assumed the forum would use that for my “avatar” (the image that appears on my posts, etc) - but it does not. Where can I change it? (I believe it’s using my Google one currently?)
