Is Studio 9.1 memory hungry?

After migrating from legacy version, I am getting the following message at least once or twice every day…

13:53 Low Memory The IDE is running low on memory and this might affect performance. Please consider increasing available heap.

I am using my Apple desktop with 16 GB RAM and 3.6 G Hz. core i7. I had been using the same computer for the legacy studio.

The Studio looks slow in general overall e.g. when I create a new screen it takes noticeably more time…

By default, Studio uses only 768 Mb of memory and cannot allocate more if you do not configure this value. If you are working on a big project with a lot of dependencies you may need to increase default sandbox memory available for Studio.

In order to customize available memory use the following steps:

  1. Click Help - Edit Custom VM Options
  2. Change value of -Xmx parameter, e.g. -Xmx1024m
  3. Save file and restart Studio
